The 21st EAWE PhD Seminar, hosted by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in collaboration with the Hellenic Wind Energy Association (HWEA) and the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE), is your chance to connect with the EAWE community.
Join fellow PhD researchers in Athens, Greece, from October 1-3, 2025, to present your work and engage in valuable discussions. The seminar offers an opportunity for PhD researchers to show and discuss their research with the EAWE community in a relaxed setting. The podium is open for students across all stages of their PhD, working in the domain of wind energy. The event features parallel tracks, as well as academic and industrial keynotes and input talks.
On October 3 at 10:30 am, TWAIN will be presented in the workshop Wind Farm Operation and Control presented by Vasilis Pettas (DTU Wind and Energy Systems). At the session, we’ll explore the latest advancements in wind farm control, drawing on insights from the EU projects TWAIN and SUDOCO and IEA Wind Task 44. In this session, attendants will gain a comprehensive overview of how state-of-the-art control and operational strategies are developed to address diverse objectives.
Learn how these strategies are applied to maximize Annual Energy Production (AEP) and revenue, manage structural loads, minimize noise emissions, and support wildlife protection. We will also discuss different use cases and the associated modeling requirements, including an overview of various modeling methodologies. This is an unparalleled opportunity to see early results from ongoing case studies and learn how to meet varying demands in terms of computational cost and time horizons.
